Staff Reviews

A page turning literary pleasure! Russo’s latest novel is set in idyllic Martha’s Vineyard and toggles in time between 1969 (the first draft lottery) and 2015.  College classmates, Lincoln, Teddy and Mickey have a shared past including a mutual love for their fourth musketeer and classmate, the beautiful Jacy.  They were all last together in the Vineyard on the eve of graduation which is also when Jacy was last seen.  40 years later they are nostalgic for their youth and confronting possible explanations of Jacy’s disappearance and they are not good.  Part mystery and part Russo at his best exploring a sense of place, community and male sensibilities.

“This book reads like a literary mystery. Forty years ago, a woman disappeared while at a get-together at Martha’s Vineyard. Now, the four friends who were with her have returned to the scene, still driven by a need to know what happened. This latest story by Richard Russo has all the elements that make him one of the most popular authors today: characters we can relate to, settings that we see in our dreams, and a story both perplexing and satisfying. Fans and new readers alike will enjoy diving in.”
