Vinsantos Defonte, a prominent voice in the national LGBTQ community and founder of New Orleans Drag Workshop, provides the foreword. Wayne Phillips, curator of the Costumes and Textiles and the Carnival Collections of the Louisiana State Museum, details the history of drag and this very special community in New Orleans. Tooker, celebrated host of Louisiana Eats , provides an epilogue illuminating her entr e and ongoing role in the Crescent City's drag queen world.

About the Author
Poppy Tooker is a native New Orleanian who has spent her life immersed in the vibrant colors and local flavors of New Orleans. She is host of WWNO (NPR-affiliated radio) show and podcast, Louisiana Eats, named Best National and Best Regional Radio Program in the Food and Beverage category by the Taste Awards in Los Angeles. After being tapped to update one of the earliest Louisiana cookbooks, Madame Begue’s Creole Recipes of Old New Orleans Creole Cookery, first published in 1900, Poppy went on to continue the story of Begue’s with Tujague's Cookbook, Creole Recipes and Lore in the Grand New Orleans Tradition. Her Pascal’s Manale Cookbook chronicles the food and the story of New Orleans second oldest, continuously operating family owned restaurant.
