Molly Yeh

Author of Molly on the Range

Monday, November 7th at 7pm

We have a bottle of California Ranch Olive Oil for every purchase of Molly on the Range while supplies last!

Molly Yeh was living the NYC dream as a percussionist who just graduated from Juilliard, eating and blogging her way through the city, when she met and fell in love with a quiet young trombonist who also happened to be a 5th generationi farmer.  Together, they moved to his family farm in East Grand Forks, MN where she now spends her days baking and cooking, sharing her adventures on her wildly popular blog my name if yeh, tending to the chickens, and relishing her new rural way of life.

In her first book, Molly on the Range:  Recipes and Stories from an Unlikely Life on a Farm, Molly expands on her life as a modern day Pioneer Woman with a collection of stories and recipes inspired by her Chinese and Jewish heritage, suburban 90's upbringing, her worldwide travels, and her new Midwestern farm life.  Molly's witty and irreverent stories and clever, delicious recipes are paired with her signature beautiful photography.

She shares everything about getting acclimated to her new life - from learning intricate family recipes (she finally got the hang of lefse), gaining appreciation for Midwestern specialties (like rhubarb and venison), cooking for the Ladies of Grand Forks Brunch Club, preparing the perfect farm lunch during harvest season, and becoming a cake genius with the beautiful dreamy cakes made famous on her Instagram.

Broken into 4 parts - Breakfast and Brunch, Mains, Snacks + Celebrations, and Desserts - Molly weaves in recipes that represent and are inspired by distinct points in her life, including:  Her childhood in the suburbs of Chicago where she essentially existed on Lunchables, Handi-Snacks, and mac n cheese, including Mum's Matzo Brei, Pancakes and Sausage on a Stick, Smoky Bacon Mac and Cheese, and Lindsay Lohan Oreos;  Her college years in NYC as a percussionist at Juilliard where she tried nearly every slice of pizza and fancy cheeseburger, and also expanded her palette by seeking out obscure tasting menus and hidden izakayas, including Schnitzel Bao with Sriracha Mayo and Sesame Pickles, McSorley's Cheese and Cracker Plate, Spaghetti and My Ex-Boyfriend's Meatless Balls;  Molly's post-collete years in Brooklyn playing music gigs around the city and when her now-husband first entered her life and my name is yeh was born, including Squash and Arugula Pizza with Sage and Ricotta and Shakshuka Couscous;  Sugar beet harvest time on the farm which runs 24/7 starting in October and is as short as 10 days or as long as a month, and culminates with a big festive harvest party, including Tomato and Squash Soup, No-Knead Garlic Bread, and Slow Cooker Goulash with Scallion Knodeln;  Molly's ongoing travels abroad to Israel and Europe, including Israeli Salad, Cardamom Oragne Kubaneh, and Asian Scotch Eggs;  Life on the Farm and in East Grand Forks, including Sesame Coffee Cake, Baked Eggs with Potatoes and Za'atar, and Wild Rice Hotdish with Ras Al Hanout and Dates; Desserts and Molly's famous cakes including Tahini Blondie Ice Cream Sandwiches, Chocolate Cake with Rosemary Buttercream, and of course the queen of all Molly Yeh cakes, the Funfetti Cake.

Filled with over 100 delicious, unique recipes and hilarious stories, Molly on the Range welcomes readers into Mollyh Yeh's kitchen and life to laugh and cook right alonside her.
