Megan Miranda Luncheon

Megan Miranda

Author of The Perfect Stranger

Wednesday, April 26th - Lunch at Paul Martin's American Grill in El Segundo

$75 ticket includes lunch and book

When Megan exploded onto the thriller scene with the runaway hit All the Missing Girls, she was repeatedly called “heir apparent” to the likes of Gillian Flynn and Paula Hawkins. This month, she returns with an equally masterful thriller, a gripping story of a journalist who sets out to find her missing friend, only to question if she ever really existed at all.

In The Perfect Stranger, we meet former journalist Leah Stevens, who, slapped with a restraining order and threats of a lawsuit, can’t get out of Boston fast enough. When she runs into Emmy Grey, an old friend escaping a troubled relationship, Emmy proposes they make a fresh start together in rural Pennsylvania, where Leah can find work teaching at the local high school. Their quiet new life is upended when Leah realizes Emmy hasn’t come home in a few days, and a woman with an eerie resemblance to Leah is assaulted by the nearby lake and left for dead.

Determined to find Emmy, the journalist in Leah reawakens, and she cooperates with detectives on the assault case to ensure their help with her roommate in return. But no one in town can be trusted, and as the investigation into Emmy’s life deepens, it becomes clear that with no friends, family, or digital footprint it looks increasingly possible that Emmy never existed at all. Soon Leah’s own credibility is at stake, and she’s forced to confront her old demons not only to clear her name, but to also uncover the truth about Emmy Grey.
